Each year in Canada, over $82 billion in domestic retail and
food service sales are generated by the agriculture and agri-food
industry. Saskatchewan food processors are at the forefront
of the industry potential. Today there are almost 300 food processors
making up this rapidly growing sector of Saskatchewan's economy,
and the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association is playing
a leading role in the promotion, support, and growth of the
dynamic group of over 200 member companies.
The Saskatchewan Food Processors Association was formed in 1990 as a nonprofit
organization designed to strengthen the food processing industry in Saskatchewan.
The association has four main objectives:
To nurture the food processing industry within Saskatchewan by identifying
and promoting the sale of foods and beverages of our processing companies.
To establish a profile of the provincial food and beverage processing sector
through the provision of accurate and timely information on the industry.
To represent and serve as a spokes group for the collective interests of the
provincial food processing industry provincially, nationally, and internationally.
To increase the competitiveness of Saskatchewan's food and beverage industry by targeting appropriate markets for our members.
Through the pursuit of these goals the SFPA has worked to develop the industry
as a whole. With over 75% of Saskatchewan food processors employing under ten
people, the SFPA's role as an umbrella organization has become crucial in providing
management and marketing programs that individual companies simply cannot afford.
Mission Statement
"To support the growth and competitive advantage of the Saskatchewan food and beverage processing industry by providing our members with relevant and current programs and services."
