The SFPA is playing an increasing role in directly influencing
the sales and market share of its members. By negotiating
as a collective body, the SFPA has reach and power far beyond
an individual processor, and utilizes this advantage in delivering
programs to positively impact the costs of marketing and overcoming
market entry barriers.
SASKATCHEWAN MADE BRANDING PROGRAM

The most effective marketing tool used in the food industry
is the brand name. National and multinational firms dominate
much of the business in the grocery market with established
brand name presence and perceptions. Saskatchewan's food processors
seek to promote and develop their own labels, but the brand
prevalence of larger firms dictate struggles for shelf space,
market share, consumer awareness, and ultimately sales. It
is the mission of the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association
to combine the marketing forces of all Saskatchewan Made products
into an awareness strategy focusing on distributors, retailers,
food service and the final consumer.
The Saskatchewan
Made Branding Program is uniting processors under a common
Saskatchewan Made umbrella, creating a single brand, complete
with its own local image and unique purchase motivators. The
Saskatchewan Made Branding Program is raising the profile
of participating processors through the use of this collective
promotional force to develop brand appeal for Saskatchewan
made products. This high profile and increased awareness will
create market demand and sales within specialty, grocery,
and food service sectors.

"SASKATCHEWAN
MADE" MONTH
There will be Saskatchewan Made promotions with United Pharmacists
and their Pharmachoice retail stores. In the past, the SFPA
had successful promotions with Saskatchewan Coop retails and
will begin to arrange promotions with them either through
Federated Coop or individual Coops. The SFPA will implement
an intense advertising campaign promoting Sask. Made branding
in all retails that have a Sask. Made Section.
FUNDRAISING
OPPORTUNITIES
Fundraising has become an important activity for most organizations,
clubs, schools, church groups and athletes.
To date
most of this had been done by out of province professional
corporations using non Saskatchewan made products; Quebec
bacon; Ontario cookie mixes, B.C. fruit, etc. We believe Saskatchewan
funds should remain in Saskatchewan. The first question for
any fund raiser at your door should be “Is it Saskatchewan
Made”?
The Saskatchewan
Food Processors Association and Saskatchewan Made Marketplace
offers you an opportunity to use Saskatchewan Made product
for your fund raising.
There
are two options outlined in the enclosed brochure. You can
use actual product or use the coupons, either option is a
benefit to the fund raisers and for Saskatchewan Processors.
May we
hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
SASKATCHEWAN FOOD PROCESSORS ASSOCIATION
