2010 SFPA Saskatchewan Made Golf Tournament

This year's golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday, September 2nd at the Greenbryre Golf & Country Club in Saskatoon.  They day will kick off with registration and lunch, followed by a shotgun tee-off and 18 holes of Texas Scramble golf.  Golfers will then be treated to cocktail hour and a Saskatchewan Made banquet featuring locally made foods as well as prize giveaways!

Western Canada's food industry receives funding boost from WED

The SFPA is pleased to announce that Western Economic Diversification has committed $961,000 towards a series of Asia Pacific trade missions, both outgoing and incoming, for food processing companies in Western Canada.  The missions will be aimed at promoting trade and parternships, as well attracting foreign investors to take over ownership of the province's many small food businesses which face closure when owners retire and do not have anyone to replace them  The SFPA will be playing a leading role in administering the 4-year project, along with other food processing associations in Western Canada.

Request for Proposals: Export Enhancement/Investment Attraction For The Food Processing Sector in Saskatchewan and Western Canada

As of March 25, 2010 the SFPA has entered into a contract with Western Economic Diversification (WD) which is focused on capacity building within the Western Canada food processing sector. The SFPA is seeking proposals which identify strategic action steps required to trigger renewed investment and sustained long-term growth in the food processing sector through key “capacity building” initiatives, including outgoing and incoming trade missions.

2010 Annual General Meeting

The 2010 SFPA Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday, March 4th at the Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.  The meeting provided an overview of the SFPA's activities in 2009 as well as a look at the association's current goals and challenges.  In addition, the SFPA Board of Directors was approved for the coming year with no changes from the 2009 slate.

Sustainable Saskatchewan conference

On behalf of the SFPA and SEDA, a big thank you to everyone who attended the Sustainable Saskatchewan conference on March 3 & 4 in Saskatoon.  We have received some great feedback and hope that everyone had an enjoyable, informative experience!  Thank you also to the many supporters who made this event possible!

Good Food Box - Now Available at Saskatchewan Made Marketplace!

 

NOTE: Good Food Box deliveries will NOT be running in July 2010.

The SFPA & Saskatchewan Made Marketplace are excited to have recently begun working with CHEP Saskatoon’s Good Food Box program. To participate, individuals pre-order boxes containing a variety of fresh local produce and then pick them up at a neighbourhood co-ordinator site-- now including the Saskatchewan Made Marketplace-- on a scheduled day. There are currently 5 different combinations available, depending on the quantity and type of produce you want.  (Click on 'READ MORE' for more information & schedules!)

'Regular Member' Map Now Available Online!

A new map is now available which marks the location of each of the SFPA's Regular Members in the province, as well as brief descriptions and contact information!  Please click HERE to view the map.  A physical map has also been created and is on display in the SFPA office.

Saskatchewan Made Program

The Saskatchewan Made Program is now up and running!  The new branding initiative was recently featured in the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce Business View magazine.

Another Successful Saskatchewan Made Golf Tourney!

The 17th Annual SFPA Saskatchewan Made Golf Tournament was held on September 3rd at the Greenbryre Golf & Country Club, Saskatoon, amidst sunshine & nearly record-breaking heat.  A huge thank you goes out to the staff at Greenbryre for all of their hard work, and to the many very generous companies that contributed to the success of the tournament through prizes, food, and sponsorships! 

We would also like to thank everyone who came out to the tournament & made it such a pleasant day!  We hope that you enjoyed the event and look forward to seeing you again next September.

SFPA Secures Funding for Food Processors

The SFPA is pleased to announce that as of April 14, 2009 it has secured additional funding through two Agriculture Council of Saskatchewan programs!

Enthusiastic Response to 'Local Living Economies' Conference

The SFPA would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the 'Supporting the Growth of Local Living Economies in Saskatchewan' conference!

A joint presentation of the SFPA & SEDA, the event showcased insightful and entertaining speakers from home and abroad, featured a trade show & delicious banquet, and was attended by well over 100 delegates representing dozens of organizations coming from several provinces. 

The conference was a great opportunity for the exchange of information and the cultivation of ideas & networks and we hope that all who attended walked away feeling newly inspired to continue strengthening the local economies within Saskatchewan!
