New and Expanded Saskatchewan Food Processors Association
Saskatoon – In recent months changes to the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association (SFPA) have been fermenting below the surface, following Darrell Schneider’s (former COO) announcement that he would retire as of June 30th, 2014. Paul Rogers, the current President will finish out his remaining two-year term during the upcoming year.
In advance of the AGM held June 23rd, Kim Hill, a former SFPA Controller was appointed as the incoming Executive Director, replacing Schneider. “It is a great time to have the opportunity to return to the SFPA,” remarked Hill, “the support and interest in value added processing continues to grow in Saskatchewan, generating an increasingly necessary role for the SFPA.”
At the AGM a slate of 8 candidates were nominated for Director positions, and all 8 candidates were accepted. The candidates were:
- Heidi Dutton, ADM Canada
- Betty Forbes, Northern Vigor Berries
- Anita Fuller, Great Western Brewery
- Shawn Harmon, Harmon Group of Companies
- Dale Kelly, POS Group of Companies
- Alister Muir, Consultant
- Colleen Parenteau, Parenteau's Gourmet Foods
- Terry Ross
The previous board was thanked for their service, and the new members welcomed.
The SFPA was formed in 1990 as an umbrella organization to represent and promote the over 300 Saskatchewan based food and beverage processing companies.
